Dear Parent,
It is such a
humbling experience in raising our children. We start
worrying about them from the moment we hear the news that they
are coming into our lives. We begin planning for them even
before they enter the world. Our lives evolve around their
total well being, sometimes beyond their independence. We
want to give them our best, we wish them to get the best, and
we want them to be the best that they can be.
Yet, we feel
challenged everyday. The world's distance is shortened by the
superhighway of the internet. It gets even smaller as we are
reached daily by the diversity of different cultural influxes.
Our children grow up at a faster pace than our own
generation. In many situations, we find ourselves not well
equipped to enrich them due to our lack of technical skills or
simply the lack of time. We look to our schools and community
to help this new generation to succeed in the 21st century.
As parents, we know every institution of learning is
maximizing their resources to meet the growing needs of our
children. The tasks ahead can be enormous. Unfortunately, we
may not always be able to find what works best for our
children in terms of time, quality programs and learning
environment.
Frederick has recently become the second largest city in
Maryland. Flexible and specialized enrichment programs may
help to bridge the gaps and provide additional options for us
parents. "LIFE & Discovery" --
Learning Institute For Enrichment &
Discovery -- is a
newly-formed educational entity that is located right here in
our Frederick community. Our mission is bringing together
people with a passion to learn and to teach. We believe that
there are many under-utilized community-based resources and
yet would be beneficial to our children's life long learning.
Life & Discovery will provide a dynamic setting where
teachers are passionate about bestowing their wisdom and
knowledge to their students in a fun learning atmosphere. We
custom design our programs to best provide for our teachers,
students and their families amidst their respective learning
needs. Our vision is that there is a learning institute that
fosters the passion of learning and sharing with equitable
partnership among teachers, students and families. Our
overarching goal is to enrich our local children’s lives with
the fun of learning more about the world and each other.
